Its summertime! All the kids are out of school. I see them playing in in the streets, at the park, and at the pool. To be honest, I’m a little jealous. Remember the summer days when you were young? Too young to work, but old enough to be bored at home. Roaming the streets on your bike. Spending your allowance on candy and movies. I can even hear the ice cream truck. What a great feeling. What I wouldn’t give for a day like that now! Can you imagine? What if, for just one summer day you could be a kid again. Wouldn’t that be great?! No responsibilities. No stress. No bills. No plans. Just a day to sleep in, swim at the pool, play at the mall, ride on the handlebars of your friend’s bike. Kids don’t realize how great they have it during the summer. Honestly, what do they have to worry about? Those days are short-lived. Before they know it, they’ll be grown up and facing the real world. Right now you’re probably sitting at work, in your office or at home, stressing about bills or your job…or something very adult-ish. What would you give for the day off? One day as a kid in the summer. I say we take it. I say we take the day off just to play. Do it…do it now! Go get some ice cream! Take off your shoes! Run in the sprinklers! Eat candy until you’re sick! See you at the pool! CANNONBALL !!!!

Well now that Asa my 17 month old son is all over the place I think we have about child proofed everything. It seems as though I have said that same statement 6 times before and he seems to find new things to get into. We’ve locked the cupboards, plugged up the outlets, gotten rid of the deadly chemicals etc….. But I still am having trouble with him eating the cat food. Every time we turn around he is eating something and most of the time he has been in the cat dish. I’m kinda getting nervous because the kitty litter box is right beside the cat food dish. One of these days we are gonna walk in and him eating cat poop. I guess at every new stag of his life I’m gonna have to child proof something new. My buddy told me when he is a teenager I’ll need to child proof my bank account…..can’t wait. thanks again for reading ….hawk

Hey, hope things are better at your house than mine. I think my wife is going to jail. Wow… my wife the fugitive. Well, I thought so anyway. She was trying on some clothes the other day right after she had returned from the mall and she noticed a security tag still on the blouse. Being the manly man I ain’t I said let me see if I can get the security tag off. After hours of trying to remove it with a screwdriver and hammer I just handed it back to her with a look of shame…..her man had let her down…again. As I was thinking of how to get it off the shirt I thought to myself….will the store clerks really believe me if I try to take it back. Also when you are taking it back will the security machine beep as you are walking back into the store….. What a dilemma…. You know how embarrassing it is when you walk out of a store and the beepers go off. Everyone is looking at you, the greeter has you up against the wall frisking you before you know what has happened…….Ok maybe I’m exaggerating a little… Anyway, I ask if that had happen to anyone on the show and Tom said he’d had it happen to him before. He said it wasn’t a big deal just take it back with a reciept. One lady called in and said it had happen to her. She said just put it into the freezer and leave it overnight and then when you try to get the security tag off the next morning the ink will be frozen. So if this hapens to you now you know what to do. .

Well if you haven’t heard the latest I hit a deer on my way to work. I was driving down Scuffletown Rd. about 5:15 when all of a sudden I see this deer. I slowed down thinking to myself ……hey…….I almost hit that ddddeeeeerrrr (bam). Yep just as the first one crossed over the 2nd deer was traveling behind. He or she wasn’t so lucky. I felt so bad all day long…… I had killed Bambi’s Mom. The funny thing is( if there is such a thing when speaking of death) I happen to be listening to the fireflies song by Owl City. That is one of the happiest songs ever making references about nature and all. Since then ever one has told me that if you see one deer watchout because there is probably another following behind. I did find out that if you hit any kind of animal deer, racoon, dog , cat, cow, etc… the insurance company calls it an act of nature and usually you are covered for any damage done to the automobile…… I don’t know why the county puts up all those deer crossing signs because the deer read the signs and think its ok to cross here…..Well no it’s not if I’m driving…..thanks for reading …hawk

Well recently Asa (my 16 month old) has loved playing outside. Of course I have hacked and cough my way through the pollen this year………. it doesn’t seem to bother him. Well being so young he is curious about everything. He chases the birds the rabbits the squirrels and anything that catches his eyes, including bugs. I must say he is all boy. He doesn’t mind being sweaty and dirty and apparently he doesn’t mind wierd things in his mouth like….ah……well…..caterpillars. As he was playing in the backyard I was busy doing dad things like wrapping up the waterhose. When I turned around Asa had a caterpillar hanging halfway out of his mouth. It wasn’t dead but the little fuzzy worm was hanging on for dear life as my son ran around the yard. I finally caught him and carefully pulled the little caterpillar out of his mouth and tried to explain why he should not do that….I don’t think he cared. So if you see a beautiful butterfly later this summer take the time to appreciate it…. and wonder to yourself was that the caterpillar that hawk saved from his son…. thanks for letting me bore you with kid stories….hawk

It’s been awhile and I hope all is well in your life. I just got back from a little spring break vacation. We decided to go to Charleston for a few days. Rebecca and I loved the South Carolina Aquarium. We saw the new albino alligator. He was creepy, pasty white and lazy…….. just setting there lickin’ his chops ready to eat. Kinda reminded me of Tom staring at his breakfast. If you get a chance to go make sure you check him out. Also our friend Beth took us behind the scenes to see their turtle hospital. They help the sea turtles like you see in the movie Finding Nemo. Yo Dude……… Did you know some breeds of turtles breath out there bottom……talk about bad breath. So if you go to Charleston make sure you stop by the Aquarium. And another tip while on vacation in the big city is to make sure you stay at the old Military Academy Citadel. It is now the Embassy Suites Historical District Hotel. Cool atrium and great service and best of all great location. Check it out on the Hawk and Tom facebook page. Me and the family will be heading back soon. As I type this I realize it kinda like making you look at my vacation pictures…..sorry.
