Spring is here and if the weather would cooperate a little more, we could actually enjoy 2 days in a row of decent, non-rainy, weather.  The lawn needs to be mowed and the garden needs to be planted!  With the weather changes, I’ve decided to possibly change up my “look”.  I just don’t know what that “look” might be.  I shaved the patch of facial hair off a few months ago (see video on www.b937online.com) and since losing some pounds, I’ve been able to wear some different clothes with a little more confidence.  My wife and I argue all of the time on what my look should be.  I think she wants me to stay with the collared shirt/button up look.  I’m looking to go a little more “rocker”.  Basically, I’m having a clothing identity crisis!  When we go shopping we get into arguments about clothes.  I think she might be trying to control me!  Back when I was heavier, I’d wear whatever she told me to wear.  Now that I can pull off a few more looks, she’s losing control of her dress up Ken doll!  I usually end up giving in and buying the shirt she’d rather see me in.  If you run into me anytime soon and hate what I’m wearing….blame my wife.  I wanted to buy the t-shirt with skulls on it. Haha!

Went to Charleston this past weekend for our 9 year wedding anniversary!

Got us a room at the Charleston Place hotel (the same place we stayed on our wedding

night).  Nice place-Just not $500 a night nice!  It was symbolic, so the price didnt matter.

We left Erin with our friends for the night.  This was the first time Christal and I spent the

night without Erin.  Christal managed not to cry at all during dinner, but when we called

around 9pm to do our goodnight call-she managed to get thru the phone conversation

without crying.  As she hung up the phone-tears came down her cheeks.  Anyone who is a

parent can certainly relate!  It was good to have a night where we could wake up

whenever we wanted to.  Without the yelling of “mommy” or “daddy” coming from the

room at the end of the hallway.  For the record-I’m pretty sure Erin had the time of her

life and probably didnt miss us at all! lol  Our friends have a 3 year old, lots of toys and a

big screen TV with lots of Dora videos!  It was good to have an adult conversation with my

wife.  Even though 90% of the conversation was about Erin.  Funny how that works huh?

Here’s a recent picture of my family with Elliot yamin and Russ (his guitar player)

After a week of a well deserved vacation, I’m back at work and I’m happy.  I’m happy that I have a job to come back to, right?  I’m also happy that I have great friends here in the Upstate and throughout the Carolinas.  During my vacation, I got to hang with my friends that live on the coast and I got to spend 72 hours with my “Camping Friends” in the mountains.    Oh, my “Camping Friends” are friends of mine that get together and camp.  Simple enough.

Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t camp last week in the mountains, we’re not that dumb.  We only camp out during the summer months, so last week we had a 7 bedroom house in Gatlinburg and it was great.

Usually, I’m a little cranky on Mondays, but not today.  WHY?  I had a great week off, we have great listeners and the sun is shining, what more could a person ask for?

Until next time..

Last saturday, Elliot Yamin was in town to do a little show for us at Chiefs in Gville.  Laster he came by and did an interview on the station and we then went to eat at Sticky Fingers on Woodruff.  The man was cravin some BBQ!  He’s from Richamond Va-so he grew up eating BBQ, but I’m sure he doesnt get a lot of chances to eat ribs since he moved to LA a few years ago.  Honestly, one of the nicest guys in the music business.  It was a great hang.  Every table in the place was coming over and asking for a picture or an autograph.  We got a taste of the Hollywood paparazzi here in Greenville.  Behold the power of American Idol!

Here’s a pics.

I was a little sad when I heard the news that Winnie Cooper, from Wonder Years fame, got married this weekend.  It was only one of the greatest shows ever!  Growing up, I was Kevin Arnold (although I never owned a Jets jacket).  I died a little today…sniff….

Here’s a picture of the happy couple (what a jerk).

Why would I say something like this?  After all, stealing is stealing – right?  But when you think about it, it doesn’t seem that simple.

For instance, they always have those commercials that say, “You wouldn’t steal a car, would you?” and I think, “No, I wouldn’t steal a car – that is wrong.  But if a friend called me up and said, ‘Hey, I just got a brand new Corvette ZR-1, do you want me to burn you a copy?’” Well, that doesn’t sound so bad, does it?

But it isn’t really philosophy I want to talk to you about, it is stupidity that I want to talk to you about.

We have two small children, and my son is 20 months old and he likes Happy Feet and Madagascar and various other animated DVD’s.  Now if you have a young child, you probably know that patience is not the strong suit of a young child.  They want their movie and they want it on the TV right now!

For that matter, I feel the same way.

Yet every time we put in a DVD, we get four or five previews for different movies.  Worse than that, we get a long silent screen with a bunch of legal terminology telling us that it is a federal crime to steal a DVD.

Can someone explain that to me?  I bought a DVD legally and I have to sit through several different silent screens that tell me that stealing the DVD is a federal crime and can be punished much more severely than if I had held a gun on a convenience store clerk and stolen money from the store.

That’s right, some IDIOTS (lawyers) came up with the idea that they should waste several minutes of my life (and you can’t fast forward through it, I’ve tried) every single time I watch a LEGAL DVD to warn me that even though I bought this DVD legally, if I was thinking of stealing one that they will treat me worse than most hardened criminals.

Now this is particularly annoying at home, but you want to multiply the annoyingness several hundred-fold, try it in your car with the rear seat DVD player.  Here’s the situation: You are in the front seat and trying to guess what is on the screen as you press the skip forward button trying to get the Happy Feet DVD to start playing for your 2 year-old and he is whining and fussing because the movie hasn’t started yet and you can’t see what is on the screen – you just want the movie to start!!!  Your toddler doesn’t know how to read and he doesn’t care if there is a 5 year jail sentence waiting for people who would steal a DVD, he just wants to see penguins – NOW.

So I’ve decided that stealing the DVD is the way to go.  I can burn the movie to a DVD that has no previews, no FBI warning and no delays.  I put it in the DVD player and it will start playing Happy Feet and I won’t have to wait for the FBI to tell me that I am a criminal.  In fact, the only time the FBI tells me that I am a criminal is when I obey the law.  When I break the law no one says anything and it just works better.

I hope Robin Williams won’t starve to death because I’m not paying for animated movies on DVD anymore…

P.S.  Legal disclaimer.  I’m not really stealing DVD’s from the internet and burning them to DVD.  That is illegal and punishable by up to five years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000.  I can’t afford that!
